Debbie Cornthwaite

My name is Debbie and I live with my husband at Haytor. I have been there for 20yrs and I adore it. I have a grown up son and daughter and two little grandsons. I also have two grown up step-sons a dog and three horses.
I have been caring for the elderly for about 10yrs in all sorts of ways in their own homes. My help has enabled them to stay in their own environment where they have felt at their happiest and most of all safe. To be part of their lives when they need someone most is of course very rewarding. Getting to know each and every one is a privilege, building trust and friendship. I like to think that most of them really look forward to our daily visits, not just for our help but to ease the loneliness. I am very much a people person and find great pleasure in talking to our clients about their lives past and present. I am also a qualified therapeutic counsellor. My qualification and practice have taught me such a lot, to be a great listener, to be non-judgmental, to read body language and to know when to be quiet are just a few of the many qualities needed to help those in need.
I love travelling, riding, walking and I am learning to play the harmonica!
